In 1999, with funding from the Federal Government, a three-year research project began. It had four parts:
- A Health Needs Assessment, which assisted in tailoring education sessions and resource development.
- A Diabetes Prevention Project, that was extremely successful and informed later projects.
- A Dyspepsia management Project that helped in the development of better resources for GPs.
- A Health Promotion Project, that delivered community education and resources such as Living with Diabetes booklet.
Results from the research have influenced the work and direction of the Foundation for many years.
