2005-2006 Dragon Luck Program – Problem gambling program

Project aims and objectives

This Project was aimed at encouraging Chinese Community groups to address the issue of problem gambling by finding local solutions to local problems.

Brief description of project

1. Publication of the "Dragon Luck" magazine
2. Focus Group
3. Community seminar
4. A radio program dealing with the issue of problem
5. Recruitment of 10 "phone buddies" for Chinese language phone support

Outcomes

The Dragon's Luck Project had generally raised the level of awareness of problem gambling in the Chinese community.

a. more openness amongst community members to discuss aspects and effects about problem gambling and it's impact on individuals and families; and

b. increased willingness to participate in problem gambling workshops and programs
